RATINGS FROM THE WEB
I’ve had an amazing experience at Fitness Formula so far! I actually look forward to working out for the first time in my life. I just couldn’t find the motivation to be consistent at other gyms I’ve belonged to in the past.
The owner, Kevin, is friendly, fun and obviously an expert in the field. The entire staff is talented and devoted to helping each client achieve his or her goal. There is a great camaraderie among the staff which makes the experience of working out there more fun. My daughter, Virginia, who is a personal trainer and instructor at the gym, encouraged me to join. I was reluctant since I am 71 years old and was beginning to have the mindset that I should slow down, not gear up. I started out doing some personal training with Virginia then she suggested I try the classes. I took the challenge and I am so happy I did. I find the classes fun, exciting, challenging and effective. I really like the heart rate component of the workout because it helps me to see my progress and encourages me to work to my “max” effort without killing me. Virginia and all the instructors help each class member conform to the workout according to his or her ability. The workout each day is different so it is not boring and the music that is designed to go along with the workout is fun.
The most important result of working out at the Fitness Formula for me is that after each class I feel more energetic, happy and strong!
High intensity interval training at its best, no more working out wondering where my limits lay. Being able to visually see my heart rate with a percent to max while working out has upped my game exponentially!
I’m moving away from St. Louis, and I’m genuinely sad to be leaving Fitness Formula! This is the first time I’ve looked forward to working out because the classes are fun and the whole staff is so awesome to be around. Kevin (the Founder) has also been super responsive to feedback, including making adjustments to the class schedule.
I am a member of this gym. As a Physical Therapist and retired professional ballet dancer I feel that I am qualified to give an objective opinion of this gym.
This is the only gym I would join in the
St Louis area for the following reasons:
1. Expert experienced management (private
owner, not a franchise organization )
2. Scientifically designed varied exercise
programs with cardiac monitors, cross
training, weights, aerobics, Yoga, mat
pilates, stretching, recovery, open gym
access and more.
3. Highly qualified trainers with education
in injury prevention and exercise
4. State of the art new equipment
5. Personalized attention for all
clients and especially for ones with
6. Cleanliness ( this gym would pass state
inspection for any hospital)
7. RESULTS and the inspiring music
makes exercising fun too!
The atmosphere is professional. The gym design is efficient and functional with beautiful designer finishes and every amenity imaginable. It’s light, looks out on a planted private courtyard and has free easy access parking too! It feels like a 5 star spa!
This gym is unique and very cost effective…. not like the commercial ones that pop up like a fast food restaurant with so called managers who herd you in, take your money and forget about you!
Enjoy the classes. They are always varied, and one can burn a lot of calories in them. I burned 750 calories at one class. I have run several half-marathon, and due to severe arthritis in my back, I have had to cut back on my running.
Brand new gym in CWE
All equipment is brand new, and not your typical stuff. Versa climbers, incline trainers, water rowers and a Jacobs Ladder being some highlights.
Two showers/changing areas available.
Studio gym for classes, open gym for whenever.
MyZone heart rate monitors are inexpensive with your membership and you can use them for your no-gym workouts.
Trainers are not just kids with a weekend certifications. They have years of education and experience in a wide array of specialties. Yoga, physical therapy, therapeutics and corrective exercise to name a few.
Workout is killer- I average 750 calories per class.
Classes are designed to be intentionally smaller (looks like 20 people, maybe 25 if jammed if maxed out) for better attention
Cost effective. More than a box gym membership, but you get what you pay for.
Gym is in the Holiday Inn and it is hard to walk past the morning cinnamon rolls
Open gym is smallish, but not crowded (yet)- open gym also has workouts posted in case you miss a class
I love the incline trainer, rowing & versa climber for a cardio kick mixed with strength training to round out my workout.
Using the MyZone Heart Rate monitor & seeing my effort as I am working out helps me & the instructors push my workout effort to my peak. And I love knowing how hard I am working… BRILLIANT!!
The instructors are fun, high energy & great at pushing me to max effort.
I have been trying to get there 3-4 times per week since they opened and appreciate the class schedule… Many classes offered throughout the day make it convenient for my schedule.
I highly recommend the Fitness Formula… Great workout & great instructors!
